What is ScholarBrowse?: A free search tool for graduate funding. It brings together advertised PhD positions, funded programs, scholarships and fellowships, plus a way to find potential PhD supervisors, and links every record back to its official source. Browsing needs no account. Create an account to save programs, track applications, and receive optional deadline reminders.
Where does the data come from?: Positions come from official boards: EURAXESS (CC BY 4.0), DAAD PhDGermany, AcademicTransfer, NSF ETAP, ORISE, Chronicle, Inside Higher Ed, Academic Jobs Online and HigherEdJobs. US program funding facts are extracted from each program's official pages, with the source quotes kept as evidence. Scholarships mix a curated set with the Campus France catalog and a CC0 fellowship list. Professor search runs live on OpenAlex (CC0). We also join open government data: College Scorecard and NSF doctorate statistics (US public domain), UKRI Gateway to Research (Open Government Licence), CORDIS (CC BY 4.0) and a Wikidata institution crosswalk (CC0). We index metadata and link back; we never republish full postings.
How current is it?: The position and scholarship data is refreshed by running the ingest pipeline; the current dataset was merged on 2026-09-08. Deadlines shown are the ones the source stated, and every card links to the original posting so you can confirm before applying.
Is my data private?: The CV advisor processes your CV and preferences when you start an analysis. ScholarBrowse does not save the original CV. The result lives only in your browser tab. Your citizenship choice is remembered in your own browser to prefilter scholarships. It can appear in scholarship filter URLs and, when provided, is included in your advisor request. If you use My applications, we store your name, verified email, optional country of residence, timezone, notification preferences, and saved programs. Your advisor CV is not added to this profile. Documents you explicitly save in your application workspace are private to your account.
How do application reminders work?: Select “Save program” on a program and choose the application round. In My applications, opt into emails 30, 14, 7, or 1 day before a listed deadline. A countdown requires a specific date and year; rolling, ambiguous, and yearless dates do not trigger emails. Always confirm the official closing time and eligibility. Mark a round Applied, remove it, or unsubscribe to stop reminders. These emails do not track university decisions or confirm that you have applied.
How does the nationality filter work?: Pick your citizenship on the scholarships page and awards split into three groups: open to your nationality, worldwide or unspecified, and not open to you (hidden but counted honestly). We never claim you are eligible for something the source does not confirm.
Why does professor search sometimes say it is rate-limited?: Professor search runs live on OpenAlex, which has a daily usage budget. Heavy use can exhaust it, in which case the page tells you the real wait time. Previously-run searches are still served from cache during an outage.
Does it cost anything?: No. Searching, filtering, browsing and CV advice are free to use.
I found a wrong or expired listing. What now?: Always confirm on the official page linked from each card, since sources change between refreshes. Expired positions are hidden from the default list but can be shown with the toggle on the positions page.
